START-Ivry represents a new generation of social and private housing in France, where apartments adapt to the inhabitants, not the other way around. START reinvents the residential tower while creating exceptional, innovative apartments as an urgent alternative to the paradox of standardized housing at a time when households have never been so diverse. Comprising 5 towers and 288 units, it introduces new typologies and design principles to ensure adaptability and resilience. START is both a manifesto and proof that it is possible to build far better than current standards—without increasing floor space, within regulations and a modest budget.
