The modern, three-story building, catches the attention as the imposing flagship facility of the tool manufacturer thanks to its completely timber façade, while also merging harmoniously into the Alpine landscape. The design team was inspired by the surrounding alpine scenery: The stone base is a homage to the massive rocky faces and the “wooden” façade refers to the surrounding forests, while the shimmering metal and glass finishes at roof level recall the eternal ice of the glacier.
The Jury‘s Statement
The way the elongated factory building adapts to the topography of the site is impressive. At the same time, the building makes reference to the surrounding mountain landscape through the materials used, which allows it to blend in gently despite its dimensions.
