Minimalist aesthetics with natural, eco-friendly materials. The inspiration came from the immediate environment. It is set on a hill with uninterrupted views of both mountain and sea. It is north facing and perfectly orientated for the sun, light, air and views. We wanted a seamless flow between the interior and exterior so that wherever you are in the house, you would always have a beautiful outlook. With the native landscape as our palette, we used natural colours: the area’s stones, light brown wood, concrete, mountain olive greens and blue water to reflect the facing Mediterranean Sea and Sky. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Located at the outskirts of a village, the design and materials of the house suit both the natural landscape and respect the traditional village-house designs, but with a modern aesthetic. Keeping everything on one level, except the two teenage children’s bedrooms on a second level, the layout is a traditional ‘I’ shape that gives a calm and ergonomic flow between interior and exterior. We wanted the family and public spaces of the house to blend seamlessly but function independently and offer privacy where needed and yet the view to be enjoyed wherever you are.

The Jury‘s Statement

The residential building in Limassol convinces with an elegantly proportioned cubic design language. The architecture of the building, which is pleasantly open on both sides and thus flooded with daylight, offers a magnificent view of the sea and the surrounding mountain landscape.
