Details

Adjacent to the Chabad Lubavitch family and cultural centre, the Pears Jewish Campus Berlin is an educational facility for children and young people. The organically curved new school building is embedded in a green school garden with a variety of open spaces. Named the "Blue House" by the children, the solitaire stands out due to its materiality and colourfulness. In Judaism, the colour blue has an important symbolism, which is thus communicated far and wide in the urban space.

The Jury‘s Statement

The new construction of the meeting centre and primary school ‘Pears Jewish Campus - The Blue House’ opens up new educational spaces for children and young people in a harmonious combination of architecture and nature. The striking colour scheme picks up on symbolic elements and makes a widely visible statement in the urban space. The well thought-out design encourages encounters and shared learning.
