Details
The striking structure of the Pretzhof Gasteig in the immediate vicinity of Sterzing was clad with vertical wooden cladding made of brushed and burnt boards of spruce. This gives the building a very homogeneous appearance and is reminiscent of a function carried out inside, namely the traditional curing of the »Speck«. The dark building envelope unites the slaughterhouse, wine store, bistro, shop, butcher's shop, offices and service flat and locates them in the industrial zone.
The Jury‘s Statement
The multi-purpose building impresses with its cubist architecture, which is given a sculptural character by the large recesses and becomes a landmark not least because of its size. An impression that is further reinforced by the cladding with black-flamed spruce wood.
