Details

The 12,000 capacity FEM Stadium anchors the 12-hectare sports tourism district of Ilocos Norte. The stadium utilizes ubiquitous locally produced corrugated sheets as its envelope, spearheading the use of more sustainable materials for monumental structures. The open architecture of the stadium transforms the sports facility into a stadium park doubling the adjacent Rizal Park and creates an inclusive and indiscriminate civic space that redefines the functions and purpose of a public stadium.

The Jury‘s Statement

The Ferdinand E. Marcos Stadium surprises with a side open to the park, extending the public park around the stadium area and making it inclusive for citizens. The fact that the panels of corrugated sheet metal used to clad the exterior façade are of regional manufacture is also sympathetic.
