Details
The project is located in the East Lake Scenic Area of Wuhan, where new construction is strictly prohibited. We revitalized abandoned industrial buildings, employing modern laminated wood materials and digital design and construction technology. By combining the logic of "explore structure directly" from traditional Chinese architecture, we designed a highly expressive timber single-slope roof system with deeply overhanging eaves.
The Jury‘s Statement
The combination of old industrial stock and traditional Chinese architecture brings about a unique aesthetic that provides a perfect setting for the cultural use. Particularly impressive is the pitched wooden roof system, to which the newly created identity of the imposing design is largely indebted.
