Village in a Vertical City

Nestled in a Hong Kong typical tower podium, this kindergarten challenges the standard "classroom box." Guided by Reggio philosophy, where children are active constructors of knowledge and part of a big community, the design integrates iconic mini-house objects with a central plaza within the cubic high-rise architecture. Of various scales and proportions, it defines a child-friendly design with plenty of room for playing, learning and making their own discoveries from different angles and multiple levels. The kindergarten transcends its urban constraint into a lively and welcoming Village within a rigid Vertical City.
