Amouage’s The Sillage in Shanghai’s Zhang Yuan is a flagship boutique imagined by Héroïne as a poetic, immersive experience. Inspired by Omani maritime heritage, the store features a sculptural wave ceiling in turquoise-painted metal, kinetic fragrance displays, and coral-inspired forms. Built inside a protected 140-year-old building, the intervention preserved historical elements. Made entirely from local stone, wood, glass, and metal, the boutique is plastic-free and avoids temporary PLV, making it a refined, low-impact space where scent becomes storytelling.
The Jury‘s Statement
The wave-like structure of the turquoise ceiling creates an atmospherically dense stage for fragrance experiences in »Amouage Zhang Yuan«. Local materials, coral-inspired forms and kinetic elements are subtly combined into a consistent, resource-conscious spatial experience. The respectful treatment of the historic fabric and the bold interpretation of Omani heritage make this project an outstanding contribution to excellent retail architecture.
