Details

A radical approach was proposed: to break away from the traditional practice of displaying ceramics indoors, instead making it possible to enjoy tea indoors admiring the ceramics exhibited outdoors in the grand nature, thus extending the possibilities of displaying endlessly without limits. I aimed to construct eight walls that connect these mountains, as if to apply human-made cracked glaze to nature. It is here that ceramics are exhibited. The walls connecting the interior and exterior lead occupants to discover their inner worlds, focusing solely on tea and ceramics. The infinitely extending world connects the inside and outside as one.

The Jury‘s Statement

The “Wangbangyo” showroom breaks away from traditional exhibition concepts and creates a sensual connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. The clever presentation of ceramics against a natural backdrop and the focus on tea as the central element create a unique, immersive experience that opens up new perspectives on the relationship between people and their surroundings.
