Details
The new waterworks in Weiden is supplied by twelve wells with up to 210 liters per second. The raw water undergoes a complex treatment process with microfilters that remove lead, iron, and manganese. Decarbonization and radon removal are carried out via the flat bed aerator. The treated drinking water is then pumped into the city’s network. The facility is equipped with redundant technology to ensure supply even in case of malfunctions.
The Jury‘s Statement
The waterworks in Weiden is not only impressive in terms of technology, but also aesthetics. The different-coloured aluminum composite panels on the building's façade reflect nature and the sky depending on the perspective, allowing the monolithic building to blend attractively into its surroundings.
