Details

The new waterworks in Weiden is fed by twelve wells. The raw water undergoes a complex treatment process with microfilters that remove lead, iron, and manganese. Deacidification and radon removal are performed via a flatbed aerator. The treated drinking water is then distributed through the city network. The facade is clad with aluminium composite panels that change colour depending on light and perspective, reflecting the surrounding environment.

The Jury‘s Statement

The waterworks in Weiden is not only impressive in terms of technology, but also aesthetics. The different-coloured aluminum composite panels on the building's façade reflect nature and the sky depending on the perspective, allowing the monolithic building to blend attractively into its surroundings.
