At the initiative of the owners, a concept was developed for the former industrial site in eastern Munich, preserving existing buildings and maintaining existing uses as the basis for a lively neighbourhood. In high density everyday uses such as work, living, leisure, culture, services, and recreation are combined. The preservation of existing buildings from the Pfanni era creates a visible reference to the history of the site, which was primarily used for commercial and industrial purposes. The transformation from a dumpling factory to a nightlife district to an urban city district can be experienced in today's Werksviertel district.

The consistent interplay of existing structures and contemporary urban development creates a charismatic, multi-layered city space in »Werksviertel München«. The harmonious integration of living, working, leisure and culture in a compact area impresses with its distinctive identity and sustainable framework. The project powerfully demonstrates how an evolutionary approach can be implemented with outstanding urban relevance.
