Details

At the top of an inclined lot of pine trees sits a row of 5 getaway houses that are primarily constructed out of wood sourced from the property and adobe bricks made from the dirt dug out of the foundation holes. Each of the houses faces a communal garden consisting of unkempt wild grounds ideal for recreation. The houses allow for rainwater harvesting, collected in underground cisterns and pumped back into the house. That water is then recycled back into the land. The view is always beautiful.

The Jury‘s Statement

The Bosque Azul project consists of an ensemble of five homes built almost entirely of wood. The special thing about it is that the wood comes from trees that stood on the property, and for the foundation of adobe bricks the clay was obtained from the excavation for the houses. The fact that a large amount of CO2 was saved by not using concrete and not transporting materials is exemplary sustainability.
