The single-family house in Hagenberg in the Mühlkreis region of Upper Austria is located in a small village development structure and is situated in the second row next to the municipal road. To surpass these neighbouring buildings and maximize the spatial qualities, the decision was made to construct the new building with four floors. The house is flanked by nine-meter high gable-ended buildings to the south and east.
The Jury‘s Statement
Called »Das Hohe Schwarze« (The High Black), this design for a private single-family home lives up to its name. With its clear proportions and tall slender form, the building has an extremely elegant and high-quality appearance, which is further enhanced by the striking cladding of vertically mounted black wooden slats.
