Details
The TAYAP Chapel redefines sacred space through light, blending simplicity, sustainability, and emotional depth. Carefully installed lighting fixtures highlight bamboo and wood with subtle uplights, while warm interior lighting grazes the nipa ceiling and altar. Manual dimming controls allow visitors to shape the atmosphere, deepening reflection and spiritual connection. By preserving the night sky and minimizing intrusion, the chapel becomes a seamless extension of its mountain environment. The design celebrates restraint, proving that light can be both functional and poetic, nurturing both spirit and senses.
The Jury‘s Statement
Subtly staged lighting meets sustainable restraint: „TAYAP CHAPEL“ uses atmospheric in-ground lights and warm ceiling accents to strikingly highlight materiality and spatial quality. The option for individual light control creates emotional depth and enhances spiritual connection. With minimal intervention in nature and a sensitive preservation of the starry sky, this meaningful place impresses through its confident, characterful approach to lighting design.
