Details

Raphael’s Cross was placed in the renovated galleries of the Poldi Pezzoli Museum in Milan. Due to the small dimensions of both the artwork and its display case, a meticulous selection and calibration of the light sources was necessary to enhance the Cross, bringing out details, reliefs, and punchwork that were barely visible in the previous display. Special filters were installed inside the case to distribute the light evenly, highlight the colours of the Cross, and matching the gold tones with those of the surrounding artworks. Additional filters were also used to prevent photobiological damage to such an important artwork.
