Nanjing Road Bund area in Shanghai has two faces: in front, the promenade with the world-famous skyline of the “Bund”, behind it a group of densely built blocks with crowded streets, neglected buildings and unattractive public spaces. With the renewal of the architectural monuments and the precise insertion of new buildings, we are renewing the cityscape and regaining its vibrant diversity. Inspired by Shanghai's “Exquisite Jade Rock”, the opening of the courtyards creates a “porous” spatial structure that is accessible to all, inviting people to stroll and enjoy.
