“neue balan”, Siemens-Quarter of early 1950s on 8,5 ha, unconventionally developed since 2010, was awarded 2023 by Deutscher Städtebaupreis: “the highly contemporary and courageous approach is exemplary. The project can be understood as a pioneering achievement. Munich has been enriched by a valuable urban building block.” With a BGF of 30,000 m², the brand-new building (28) closes the outskirts in “White Modernism” and opens onto the campus with a sitting staircase leading to inner courtyards; Interior and exterior space interlock – a “city within the city” with keys to climate neutrality, ecology and sustainability.
