Details
The Berlin Senate is currently constructing nine typical three-field sports halls in ecological timber construction. Serially planned and manufactured, they can be implemented at various locations and respond to the constantly growing and changing demands on infrastructure facilities. With the building material wood, construction, building envelope, hall expansion are economically interesting, the execution time unbeatable and, with regard to ecology and sustainability, of growing importance. The Jury‘s Statement
The three-field sports halls built by the Berlin Senate in ecological timber construction are convincing due to their simple and clever idea of a modular sports hall as well as their extremely good execution. The use of wood as a building material for the construction, the building envelope and the hall extension is interesting from an ecological and economic point of view, and the advantages of serial planning, production and a short construction phase also outweigh the disadvantages. A project that responds intelligently to the growing and changing demands of our world and offers solutions for a sustainable future.
