Details

The building to be converted for a family was inhabited by an artist until and was built and designed by himself. The original part of the building is a two-story solid saddle roof house. With the one-storey extension built piece by piece, an ensemble in the form of a courtyard house was created over time. The starting point for the design of the conversion is the alternative spirit of the Indianersiedlung. The existing building has been renovated and expanded in a respectful and sustainable manner.

The Jury‘s Statement

The original spirit of the settlement has been preserved by the equally careful and meticulous conversion and extension of the courtyard house in the Indian Settlement in Cologne, whereby the visible wooden roof construction lends the rooms a special atmosphere. A project that is as sympathetic as it is exemplary.
