The BVG transports Berlin's diversity. So who better to transport a message of diversity? That's why we redesigned our seating pattern: The "Pattern of Tolerance"- composed of more than 80 human silhouettes of all ages, skin colours, religions, sexualities and cultures. A design as colourful and diverse as the Berliners who sit on it – visible online and throughout Berlin. It will be unmissable for 2.6 mio passengers every day, and it will be carried further: with the QSxBVG – fashion collection.
The Jury‘s Statement
With its "Pattern of Diversity", BVG impressively demonstrates the role design can play in conveying messages: The graffiti-inspired new patterns of the Berlin U-Bahn tell stories of diversity, tolerance and inclusion and accompany around 2.6 million passengers throughout Berlin every day. It is also a great idea to translate these patterns into the complementary QSxBVG streetwear collection, which lets us carry the message further. "Patterns of Diversity" is a perfect example of how signs can be set for social values and people can be made aware of them in everyday life through design.
