Augmented Reality Science Center
We were commissioned to design a science centre focused on space. Such a special assignment needed not only a specific building form but a whole new way of designing and presenting its most important part – the exhibition. What we found important in an EU-funded facility is not the building costs but its life cycle and all the additional expenses. By applying augmented reality (AR) technologies, we created not only an outstanding experience for the visitors but also substantial savings.
Statement of the jury
Through the use of sophisticated AR technologies and maps, visiting the exhibition becomes a unique experience. One of the main attractions is the huge disc hanging from the ceiling that becomes a giant planet-like sphere due to the projection directed onto it. Due to the sculptural glass façade, the object is also visible from outside the building, becoming part of the fascinating AR installation together with the building’s architecture.
