The FINNE Svendsen Building

The FINNE Svendsen Building

An energy-efficient loft building in Seattle on a corner lot, with glass and wood street facades on the south and west, and masonry walls on north and east. All spaces have natural lighting and ventilation, 12-ft. ceilings, 11-ft high windows and an exposed steel structure. Floors have radiant concrete heating and cooling. Operating windows create natural ventilation. A custom wood front door presents a contrast to the blackened wood cladding. The steel stair opens directly from the lobby.

Statement of the jury

The modern office building presents itself in pleasantly open and transparent manner in a contemporary architectural style in which energy efficiency systems have been systematically incorporated throughout.
