1D Shadow

Description

1D Shadow is an interactive video installation that allows people to experience the flatness of a one-dimensional space. Visitors to the gallery see two opposing white walls which feature colourful vertical bars matching their clothes and chasing them as they move around the space. This installation was part of the first Lightbox’s Lab artist residency, an event space in New York city.

Statement of the jury

The noteworthy installation highlights the colours of the visitors’ clothing and presents them as vertical stripes on the wall that even follow the visitors. A beautiful, downright poetic idea fit for social media, being fun, fascinating and emotionally moving.
