Description

The BUGA Wood Pavilion shows innovative approaches to digital wood construction. The segmented shell is based on biological principles of the plate skeleton of sea urchins and was robotically fabricated. Three dynamic arches form inviting openings and lead visitors inside the pavilion. The lightweight shell creates a curved space for concerts and public events, with excellent acoustics and a unique architectural atmosphere.


Statement of the jury

The BUGA wooden pavilion makes a noticeable statement as digital wooden architecture. The bold and curved construction designed to resemble the endoskeleton of sea urchins, can be accessed through the open arches. The lighting, integrated into the variably-sized openings, is very atmospheric. An iconic building that not only invokes curiosity and enthusiasm, but also convinces with its high functionality.
