≲ 231 MIN

≲ 231 MIN

Description

≲ 231 MIN is named after its maximum candle burn time of ≲ 231 minutes. The pioneering design allows the user to determine when the flame will be extinguished by the amount of water poured into the holder. As the candle reduces in length, its bottom end rises up. Eventually the bottom end releases itself from a narrow part in the glass and the candle revolves over onto its side, extinguishing the flame in the water. Intuitively, for less burn time, add more water.

Statement of the jury

The candle holder makes it possible to influence the amount of time the candle burns using the quantity of water that is added. An impressively simple, physical principle translated into a beautiful, decorative object.
