Hayama Huts

Hayama Huts

Description

A villa near Isshiki beach in the Hayama area, originally a fishing village. The layout consists of five volumes around a courtyard with a swimming pool, respecting neighbouring houses' height and pitch. Gaps between the volumes serve as corridors for light and breezes, connected by a pergola with steel louvres. The client's original request for a simple hut expanded into a harmonious complex of small buildings, blending with the seaside landscape and respecting neighbours.

Statement of the jury

Ensemble of building units of different sizes, which hold different functions and, despite their minimalist interior style, look very elegant inside. The wooden cladding of the exterior walls creates a reference to nature and ensures that the buildings are pleasantly unobtrusive and respectfully integrated into their surroundings.
