Description

This store has a butcher’s shop on the ground floor and a restaurant above it. The design took inspiration from fridge interiors. Round corners, smooth edges, and customised lights constituted the formal vocabulary. Natural materials such as sandstone, granite and wood veneers were selected to add comfort. The butcher’s shop has a “cool” grey tone to represent a fridge space. The restaurant uses warmer tones of woods to create a softer atmosphere for dining. The two spaces are distinct yet connected.

Statement of the jury

This establishment, which contains a butcher shop and restaurant, consists of two levels. Its contemporary and clear design featuring natural materials admirably backs up the store’s claim that it sells quality products.
