Together with Christian Warlich, he was one of the protagonists of the Hamburg tattoo scene in the first half of the twentieth century.

Statement of the jury

This book about a once renowned tattoo artist from St. Pauli is notable for the superb paper used and for its clear design. But the book’s content is also compelling, given that the motifs depicted in it provide an excellent survey of the history of tattoo art in the first half of the 20th century.
