T-HAM PABP Meat Processing Factory
Description
This is the most advanced meat processing factory in Taiwan. It contains 22,000 sqm of space that produces 1,200 tons of meat products per month. It has been conceived as a comfortable working machine. Workers spend eight-hour shifts in a cold environment (-20° to 13°) without natural light. The design incorporated daylight and views into the building whilst keeping movements of people, goods, gasses and liquids associated with raw and cooked meats separate to fulfil export criteria.
Statement of the jury
The design for the meat factory combines the highest standards of hygiene with aspects of logistics and employee working conditions at a high technological and artistic level. The different volumes on the roof are sculptural stylistic elements that give the architecture a special identity.
