Tinel Vacation Houses

Tinel Vacation Houses

Description

The design corresponds to the original values of the local architectural heritage such as simplicity, functionality and appropriate human scale. In such a steep terrain the objective was to make the building a part of the landscape. It is designed as a half-buried building with simple, small structures that are interconnected to realise the rich spatial relationships between inner and outer space. This represents an important feature of traditional Mediterranean architecture – outdoor living.

Statement of the jury

The concept, intelligently-integrated into the steep hillside, offers a huge amount of space and quality. The distinctive cubic volume located on a hillside expands the living space, both allowing plenty of light into the building and offering a fantastic view from multiple perspectives. A highly-elegant, exclusive piece of architecture.
