3M Headquarter EMEA

Description

Marazzi & Paul have designed and built for 3M their new EMEA logistics headquarters in Langenthal. This is the first step in a major dynamic shift of the area from an industrial zone to a business and residential area. The 5,800 sqm building will host up to 350 employees. The façade was designed with the nearby railtrack in mind. Bands of glazed ceramic tiles in different shades of grey and red, represent the movement of the trains and the dynamic lines of the railtrack.

Statement of the jury

This corporate headquarters is notable for the beauty of its façade, which conveys, in relief form, the starting and stopping of trains on the nearby train tracks. The design simulates a kind of movement fuzziness that lends the building a distinctive character.
