Laboratory for Shihlien Chemical Bio-tech Salt Plant

Description

This laboratory for a world-class medical salt plant in Jiangsu, China, is conceived as a pristine array of NaCl crystals. White-washed boxes with full-height glazing define various laboratories within. Fluid curvatures define entrances and openings. “Water” is an essential element within the plant’s salt extraction process and thus celebrated as a major feature. The building is poised serenely beside a generous pond designed for evaporative cooling and irrigation, as if floating on water.
