Description

The education centre for energy efficiency and barrier-free technologies forms a new urban development starting point for an industrial park in Cologne. Thanks to an integrated design process the architects realized an innovative building which can power the whole educational centre by using highly efficient energy systems. By using a modular architecture the technical equipment is not only for building supply, at the same time it can be used as efficient education installation.

Statement of the jury

With its transparent, strictly linear design, the energy-efficient, fully accessible building not only has a very contemporary look but also has a friendly and inviting atmosphere.
