RICCA

Description
RICCA is a bar in Kagurazaka. To this day, this city’s streets are characterized by a traditional Japanese atmosphere. In this design, I’ve expressed the Japanese sense for aesthetics. Japan has a cultural event called “hanami.” It means “the viewing of cherry blossoms.” This unique event takes place for only a few weeks in early spring. This moment inspired me to design this bar with the beauty, the lustre, the power and the fragility of hanami.
Statement of the jury
The design of this Tokyo bar is based on cherry blossoms – a natural springtime phenomenon that is transposed to a unique installation on the bar’s ceiling. An intriguing design that is both poetic and beautiful.
