SOLO Warehouse

SOLO Warehouse

Description

The architect renovated a 30-year-old factory into a warehouse to show the brand identity of SOLO, with LOCK as the main product. The LOCK was interpreted as LOCK & INTERLOCK represented by the three-dimensional pattern of the façade. The skin design used aluminium composite, as it can be cut and folded. With its lightweight quality, the composite would not impact the old building structure. Moreover, the opened joint system prevents the skin from staining while reducing wind load.

Statement of the jury

At the lock manufacturers’ company building, it was possible to translate the principle of locksmithing into an impressive facade structure, whose effect is reinforced by the red colour choice. A noteworthy design that looks even more three-dimensional in artificial and natural light, giving the building an unmistakable identity.
