Emotional interiors applied to healthcare facilities: Susanna Cots has designed an intimate space with fine traditional materials that exude calm and serenity. The waiting rooms are designed as wooden cubes that protect visitors from the emotions of expectation. Connection with the rest of the rooms is maintained through the symbolic presence of nature. Finally, the light is used to emotionally unite – imperceptibly – the various spaces by creating a play of shadows that soothes the emotions.

Statement of the jury

Designed in the shape of a wooden cube, the waiting area stands out visually from the flat white of the surroundings and creates a quiet, cosy atmosphere. An intelligently solved lighting concept reinforces this impression, while at the same time uniting the different rooms through a subtle play of shadows.
